SK Chipley – Worship Organist & Pianist – Choir Accompanist

Grace Lutheran Church is delighted to welcome SK Chipley to our staff and music ministry as of March 2020.

Meet SK Chipley

The Worship Organist/Pianist and Choir Accompanist hiring committee is thrilled to announce that SK Chipley will be joining our staff on March 1, 2020! A native of Seoul, South Korea, SK has more than 30 years of experience as a church musician.

Education and Experience

She moved to the United States during her senior year of high school and began serving as a worship accompanist in college. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance.

SK is currently the staff accompanist and piano teacher at Ravenscroft, where she received a teaching award in 2018. She has had a varied career in music that has taken her all over the world. She has played for opera companies here and abroad, served on the faculty at several universities, and worked as a freelance pianist.

She came to Raleigh in 2007, after accepting the position of Assistant Professor of Piano and Music Theory at Saint Augustine’s University. While there, she taught music theory and piano courses, served as the chapel organist, and accompanied various ensembles, including the gospel choir.

SK loves sharing music during worship and she says that doing so brings her closer in relationship with God. She loves helping the congregation find that connection, too.

She will be serving as our organist and pianist. She will also accompany our choirs and participate in worship planning with our Director of Music and Celebrate Mission Team.
