“I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I desire that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.
“Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
Prayer in Song
Dorothy Norwood has a song that is titled “Somebody Prayed for Me.” Look it up on YouTube or listen here before you continue reading this post. I’ll wait…
The lyrics say:
Somebody prayed for me, had me on their mind,
They took the time and prayed for me.
I’m so glad they prayed. I’m so glad they prayed for me.
My mother prayed for me, had me on her mind,
She took the time and prayed for me.
I’m so glad she prayed. I’m so glad she prayed for me.
The preacher prayed for me had me on his mind,
He took the time and prayed for me.
I’m so glad he prayed. I’m so glad he prayed for me.
If you listened to that song, you are probably dancing in your seat right now. It is uplifting and inspiring and exciting. What makes it so exciting is that if we listen to the words then we realize that at this very moment…Somebody is praying for you.
How exciting is that?
Keeping Prayers Everyday
And if we read the text from John, we learn that the very somebody that is praying for us is JESUS. Jesus THE Christ himself is lifting us up in prayer.
So go about your day, your week knowing that no matter what you are dealing with, no matter what the struggle, no matter how high the mountain that you are staring up, you can take each step knowing that Jesus himself is there with you and lifting you up in prayer to God.
I’m so glad he did, I’m so glad he did, I’m so glad he prayed for me!
