Ann Goldfinch – Director of Music
Ann Goldfinch is music director at Grace Lutheran Church, where she directs the Adult, Covenant (K-5), and Cherub (infant-preschool) choirs, plans weekly worship services, and works with congregation musicians of all ages to prepare special musical offerings for worship.
Meet Ann Goldfinch – Musical and Teaching Background
Previously, she was a music specialist in the Wake County Public School System, where she also served as the elementary music staff development coordinator, a National Boards candidate coach, and a supervising teacher for pre-service teachers. Ann has taught private voice and piano lessons and homeschool general music, as well. Ann has served as a clinician for Orange County Public Schools Elementary All-County Chorus, North Carolina Symphony teacher training workshops, and National Paideia Conferences and as a guest instructor for methods courses at area universities.
She has held leadership positions in professional organizations at both the state and national level and is currently on the teacher advisory committee for the Raleigh Fine Arts Society Elementary Choral Celebration, held each spring at Meymandi Hall in Raleigh, NC.
Education and Training
Ann earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching (K-12 music), Bachelor of Music (voice, minor in piano), and Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages (French) degrees from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and is National Board Certified in Early/Middle Childhood Music. She completed Level II Orff Schulwerk training at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Level I Orff training at Campbell University, and Level I training in the Creating Original Opera program through the Metropolitan Opera Guild’s Education Department.
Ann met her husband while working as a camp counselor at Camp Kanata in the mid-90s, reconnected 10 years later while volunteering at camp, and got married a few years after that. She is the proud mother of 3 young children. When not making music at Grace, Ann enjoys spending time with her family, teaching her daughters piano lessons, trying hard to find time to exercise, and baking. Ann grew up at Grace and is delighted to be raising her children here.
